She and Ché Chesterman were the two acts in this year’s semi-final to receive the fewest votes from the public, performing for one last time in the sing-off.
Lauren was the first act to perform, and was visibly in tears as she took to the stage to sing Rachel Platten’s ‘Fight Song’, but fought against her emotions to deliver a convincing performance.

Ché then delivered his version of the Simon and Garfunkel classic, ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’.
While Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora each chose to stand by their own acts, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini chose to send Lauren home, claiming: “It’s really heartbreaking to see you so emotional at this stage, but it’s only going to get harder from here, which worries me, so I’m sending Lauren home.”

Simon Cowell then revealed he couldn’t choose between the two hopefuls, deciding instead to “let the public decide”, taking the vote to deadlock.
It then emerged that Lauren had been the least popular with the public, and thus would be leaving the competition at the final hurdle, taking the opportunity to thank those who had voted for up until then.
This means that Ché will be competing for the title of this year’s ‘X Factor’ champion in next week’s final, against Reggie ‘N’ Bollie and Louisa Johnson.
This year’s two-part finale kicks off on Saturday night, at 8pm on ITV.
