Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg Announces Plans To Build Iron Man-Esque AI Assistant

Mark Zuckerberg's New Year Resolution Has Been Inspired By Iron Man. And It's EPIC

Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg has announced his "personal challenge for 2016" and it's a good one - to build an AI assistant like "Jarvis in Iron Man."

Yes, we realise this ambitious plan puts all our New Year resolutions to shame. However, it's an admirable one.

Every year, I take on a personal challenge to learn new things and grow outside my work at Facebook. My challenges in...

Writing on his page, he states the main purpose of the assistant is to run his home and help him with his work.

"I'm going to start by exploring what technology is already out there," he writes.

"Then I'll start teaching it to understand my voice to control everything in our home -- music, lights, temperature and so on."

According to Zuckerberg, he wants the Jarvis-esque assistant to have facial recognition abilities, check in on his kid's room and help him visualise data.

"I'll teach it to let friends in by looking at their faces when they ring the doorbell," he said.

" I'll teach it to let me know if anything is going on in Max's room that I need to check on when I'm not with her.

"On the work side, it'll help me visualize data in VR to help me build better services and lead my organisations more effectively."

Referring to Facebook's other AI-lead developments, including Messenger's virtual assistant, he described his new personal challenge bringing different kinds of rewards.

"This should be a fun intellectual challenge to code this for myself," he said.

"I'm looking forward to sharing what I learn over the course of the year."

Well, once his Jarvis-type assistant is a reality, hopefully Zuckerberg will share it with the rest of the world.
