On Monday (18 January) morning, it was announced that David had been forced to pull out of the series, due to a bout of ill health.
A ‘CBB’ spokesperson said of his departure: “Due to medical reasons, David Gest has decided to leave the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house. His exit will appear in tonight’s show on Channel 5 at 9pm.”

Although further details of David’s illness are yet to be revealed, he was noticeably absent from Sunday night’s episode, with narrator Marcus Bentley explaining at the beginning of the show he was “spending the day in Big Brother’s spare room” to recuperate.
He had been ill for the past week, leading to this year’s most explosive ‘CBB’ moment so far, which came when Tiffany Pollard was mistakenly led to believe that he had died, after a mix-up involving news of David Bowie’s death.
David is the second of this year’s housemates to walk away from the show, following the departure of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star Jonathan Cheban last week.
His exit leaves just 10 housemates remaining in the house, with Tuesday’s eviction thought to be going ahead as usual.
Either Danniella Westbrook, John Partridge, Kristina Rihanoff or Tiffany Pollard will be booted out of the house, following Friday night’s round of killer nominations, which took place immediately after Nancy Dell’Olio was given the axe.
‘CBB’ continues on Monday night, at 9pm on Channel 5.
