Fascinating Video Shows What Would Happen To Your Body If You Only Drank Fizzy Drinks

This Is What Would Happen To Your Body If You Only Drank Fizzy Drinks

We're all partial to a can of coke from time to time, but what would happen to our bodies if we drank nothing but fizzy drinks?

According to the team at AsapSCIENCE, as the drink enters a person's mouth it begins to erode the enamel on their teeth. If this is done repeatedly it can lead to cavities and even gum disease.

After a week of substituting the recommended eight daily glasses of water for cola, it's estimated that you will have consumed more then 5,000 additional calories, upping your risk of obesity.

Add in the high levels of sugar present in most fizzy drinks and you're also at a higher risk of diabetes.

Unfortunately drinking diet versions of fizzy drinks isn't going to improve matters all that much.

Artificial sweeteners used in these products have been shown to enhance our appetite just as much as regular sugar. As a result, we're likely to over-consume food after drinking diet drinks, also leading to weight gain.

According to the video, a woman who drank two litres of fizzy pop every day for 16 years was hospitalised at the age of 31.

The woman, who had no family history of heart problems, was suffering from spells of fainting and arrhythmia (problems with heart rhythm).

Tests also found she had severely low levels of potassium. The body needs potassium in order to control the activity of the heart, maintain healthy growth and break down carbohydrates.

Luckily our bodies have an amazing ability to recover and once the woman ditched her fizzy drinks habit, her symptoms began to improve.

The moral of the story? Drink fizzy drinks in moderation.
