Earlier this week, Grimmy announced that he was stepping down from the judging panel after just one series, with reports later suggesting that Simon Cowell was also planning to axe new host Caroline.

It has now been claimed that the ‘Heart Skips A Beat’ singer is next on the chopping block, less than a year after gaining the coveted job of ‘X Factor’ host.

"They come as a package. He had a good time on the show and got on very well with everyone but realises his forté is music.”

A source also told the newspaper that nothing was certain about Olly’s future, as he is in the process of putting together his upcoming album, while a spokesperson for the singer told Digital Spy that he is still “in talks” about whether he will be back for a second year as presenter.

Olly’s time co-presenting ‘The X Factor’ had its fair share of ups and downs, with his and Caroline’s tenure receiving a mixed reception from the show’s viewers, most notably when a live TV blunder saw him appear to prematurely announce which act was being sent home.

Meanwhile, it has been claimed that Simon Cowell is pinning his hopes on Rita Ora returning to the judge this year to “save the series”, while former One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson is the hot favourite to take over Nick Grimshaw’s seat on the panel.

A show spokesperson said: “No decisions have been taken about the new series of ‘The X Factor’.”
