Labour MP Richard Burgon provoked a withering look from colleague Rachel Reeves today with a bizarre intervention at Prime Minister’s Questions.
The Leeds East MP used his question to ask if David Cameron would resign as PM if the UK voted to leave the European Union in this summer’s referendum.
Cameron responded to Burgon’s challenge to answer ‘yes or no’ by simply replying: ‘No’.
Sitting in the row behind Burgon, the former Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary threw some serious shade at her colleague after he delivered what he clearly felt was an explosive question.
Another Labour MP, Toby Perkins, simply looked to the heavens as Burgon sat down.
Burgon, one of Labour’s 2015 intake, is seen as one of Jeremy Corbyn’s biggest supporters in the parliamentary party and nominated him for the leadership.
