When you’re a cat owner, there’s nothing better than relaxing with a warm, contented cat purring on your lap - the perfect antidote to the stresses and hustle and bustle of Christmas. As Charles Dickens said: “What greater gift than the love of a cat?”
And cats love this time of the year too.
Here’s why...
Warm spots for sleeping
With the central heating turned on, or a warm fire or log burner to stretch out near, your cat will be blissfully content. Cats are connoisseurs of comfort and have an amazing ability to seek out the cosiest space and make it their own, whether that’s your snuggly winter duvet or on top of a radiator. Cats are nocturnal and can notch up 14 hours or more daytime sleeping.

Adventuring
Your territorial cat will love exploring the winter landscape - especially for short bursts in the snow. Prepare for him to be intrigued by snow - more opportunities for play.
While falling snowflakes just demand to be caught!

Petting possibilities
More guests mean more laps and opportunities for stroking. Purr-fect! Ernest Hemingway said it best: “A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not.” When a cat’s happy, you know it!
Playing
Kittens and cats have a wonderfully playful nature and Christmas offers so much bounty for games - from baubles to paw, stalk and pounce on to scaling the Christmas tree. These may be too much temptation for an adventurous cat, so make sure your tree is secured firmly in its holder.
Curiosity will definitely get your cat if you have any new electronic games or moving games at floor height. Enjoy!

But then, as we all know, cats can play with anything. Even their own tails.
Christmas treats
Show your cat how special she is with delicious Whiskas® Treats. You can make feeding time even more fun for your playful kitten by filling a plastic bottle with some Whiskas® Kitten Dry, leaving the lid off or cutting a small hole in the side so the dry biscuits fall out as your kitten plays with it. Alternatively, place some dry food in a brown paper bag and loosely close the end or put some in a feeding ball. Food and fun, win-win!
Watching winter birds
With an array of wild birds visiting our gardens - from blue tits to robins - your cat will be intrigued. If you hang bird feeders, make sure they’re high enough to be out of your natural born hunter’s reach.
