More than 30 people were trapped in mid-air for hours when a fairground ride broke down.
The Power Tower at Hull Fair is closed after the incident on Friday night which is believed to have been caused by a computer system failure.
Humberside Police retweeted a post from a chief inspector who said people on the ride were aged between nine and 60, adding that there had been no injuries.
On Saturday, Hull City Council said “an agreement has been made between the council and the ride owner that it will not reopen today”, adding: “The owner is conducting thorough and rigorous tests to find the cause of the computer system failure.”
Phil Leake, incident commander for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, said he believed the ride became stuck at about 6.30pm and the last person was removed at 1am.
He said the ride was initially at a height of 70 to 80 feet, but fire crews managed to get it down to about 30 feet, making the rescue operation easier.
Mr Leake praised the people trapped on the ride, describing them as “extremely calm” and “extremely patient”, adding: “They really, really acted in a manner that really supported our rescue.”
A council spokeswoman confirmed the Power Tower had also broken down earlier this week, as well as on Friday night.
