A Washington-state based cannabis producer called Sugarleaf created a strain of weed named “Monica Lewinsky,” and the woman behind that namesake has discovered it.
On Thursday night, Lewinsky tweeted out a photo of the Sugarleaf hybrid weed in a jar accompanied by a series of eye and hand-pointing emojis.
The photo is from Devin at Steinfarm, a Seattle-based product and lifestyle photographer, shot for The Novel Tree, but the product itself is from Sugarleaf.
“To this day the strain remains pretty exclusive,” Sugarleaf CEO Cody Anderlini told HuffPost via email, adding that “Sugarleaf is the only producer to bring it to market for the public to enjoy.”
Anderlini also said the Monica Lewinsky strain “regularly tests over 20 percent active THC and sometimes we even get the elusive 30 percent THC test result back from the lab.” It’s now one of 80 that the brand keeps in rotation.
A perusal of Sugarleaf’s social media pages reveals the Monica Lewinsky strain looks like this:
And you can see it in jar form again below:
Of Lewinsky, Aderlini said that Sugarleaf would be honored if she “herself would like to stop by for a tour so we can show her all the hard work that goes into producing world class cannabis and how far the industry has come.”
“I think that she has done an amazing job at utilizing her platform to help make a positive change in the world,” he added. “Maybe while she’s here we can work out a way to donate a percentage of sales retroactive to a charity of her choice if she would like.”
Lewinsky seems to be handling the unique rebranding of her name with good fun, saying on Twitter that she had been talking to a friend on Friday morning about having a “party just for the party favors!”
We hope that party comes to fruition, because weed certainly like to be there.
