6 Cape Town Teens Rushed To Hospital After Grenade Explodes At Manenberg Home

Western Cape police are investigating the origin of a hand grenade that exploded in a Manenberg home on Monday, seriously injuring six youths.

"Circumstances surrounding an explosion [on Monday] at about 18:30 in Goud Street, Vanguard Estate, Manenberg, whereby six young males aged between 15 and 20 years old were seriously injured are under investigation," spokesperson Captain Federick van Wyk said.

The six youths were rushed to hospitals. A case of unlawful possession of explosives was opened.

Five teenagers were injured, two of them critically, Western Cape EMS spokesperson Robert Daniels said.

They had been taken to Groote Schuur Hospital and a private hospital.
