There’s something scary and yet mesmerising about the sight of thousands of Koi carp gliding soundlessly around this abandoned shopping mall.

The astonishing sights were captured by blogger and photographer Jesse Rockwell during a visit to Bangkok, Thailand.

Website Coconuts Bangkok explains the building fell into disrepair after the demolition of its upper floors and a subsequent fire in the late 1990s.

Without a roof, it began filling up with rain water. The introduction of a small quantity of Koi and Catfish in early 2000 to curb mosquitos from breeding has since seen the population of fish thrive.
