It’s no exaggeration to say that RuPaul’s Drag Race fans were gagged when the UK version debuted on Thursday night, but there was one aspect in particular that they loved the most – step forward, Alan Carr

The comedian was praised for delivering the stand-out moment of the first episode, when he served up a monologue about one queen’s poor runway performance.

Now, if you haven’t watched the episode yet, consider this your spoiler warning.

When the contestants were tasked with coming up with a runway look that showed why they were the Queen of their hometown, Gothy Kendoll’s efforts didn’t exactly impress the panel.

After painting her face like a tiger to represent her hometown of Leicester, she put on a less-than-enthusiastic strut down the catwalk, before letting out the meekest of roars.

As the judges debated which queens should subsequently be in the bottom two and lip-sync for their lives, Alan delivered a cutting but hilarious verdict on Gothy.

“In that first outfit as the tiger, she looks like an estate agent that’s gone to Regents Park Zoo and said, ‘Can you face-paint my face for 50p?’. And then she’s gone back into work and gone, ‘What do you think girls?’,” he said, before letting out a pathetic growl.

His comments had RuPaul, Michelle Visage and guest judge Andrew Garfield in stitches, while everyone at home hailed it as the moment of the night...

The opening episode of Drag Race UK introduced us to the 10 queens vying to become Britain’s first Drag Superstar, before the first one had to sashay away after losing a lip-sync battle.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is available to stream now on BBC iPlayer, with new episodes dropping every Thursday at 8pm.
