Alan Carr has announced his engagement to long-term boyfriend Paul Drayton.
The ‘Chatty Man’ host has revealed that Paul popped the question while they were on holiday in Indonesia last week”, with Alan describing the proposal as his “idea of hell”.
Wait, what?
Opening up to The Sun, he reveals: “I went to the toilet [at dinner] and came out to eat dessert. And then I was like, ‘Oh my God, a filling’s come out, just my luck on holiday’. “I pull it out and it’s this ring and then the man on the organ starts singing ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’.
Alan also joked he’d be calling on favours from his celebrity friends, adding: “The engagement only happened last week so I don’t know exactly what we’ll do… but [it’ll be] a big old wedding and we’ll get Adele singing ‘Someone Like You’.”
The happy couple have been an item for eight years, though the stand-up performer rarely comments on his relationship publicly.
However, opening up about their romance in his upcoming second autobiography, ‘ALANATOMY’, he writes: “I want to be there for him because he’s the best thing that’s happened to me and I’ve got to support him and everything.”
