RuPaul's Drag Race UK: Alan Carr Savages Geri Horner's Guest Judging Stint

Alan Carr has claimed Spice Girls star Geri Horner was left “clutching her pearls” when she appeared as a guest judge RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

During her reign as Ginger Spice, Geri was renowned for her outrageous antics both on and off the stage, but when she paid a visit to Drag Race UK, Alan has revealed there wasn’t a hint of that in sight.

Instead, fans can look forward to Geri appearing as the “lady of the manor” (as seen on her Instagram) when her episode debuts in the coming weeks.

“Geri was outraged by everything,” the comedian told The Sun, when asked about how the singer got on during her stint on the panel.

“This is a woman who, at the Brits, came out of an inflatable vagina singing Bag It Up! And she was grabbing her pearls [at Drag Race]! I was shocked.”

He added: “I remember the Geri with the big old tits and Union Jack dress causing trouble – but she was like Maggie Smith in Downton Abbey! I was like, ‘Wake up, Geri!’”

In Geri’s defence, the Drag Race UK queens have already revealed that the British version of the show is considerably more vulgar than the American series.

Alan previously admitted that he was told by producers to try and discourage the queens from swearing, but to no avail.

“The producers asked me to get them to say something that wasn’t too rude when I was in the workroom with them... but that’s a British drag queen! They are potty-mouths!” he said.

“Everyone thinks they are airy-fairies, clutching their handbags, but they’re rough as arseholes and they swear like navvies. That’s a very big misconception. They have to be. It’s dog-eat-dog on the gay scene.”

The first episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is now streaming on BBC Three, with new instalments dropping every Thursday night.
