Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon has addressed rumours she could be returning to the show in the near future.
Alesha won Strictly in 2007 and became a judge two years later, remaining on the panel until Simon Cowell made her an offer to join the team at Britain’s Got Talent, after which she was replaced by Darcey Bussell.
With Darcey having now said farewell to Strictly, Alesha’s name has cropped up on more than one occasion as a potential replacement for the ballerina, which she was quizzed about by Britain’s Got More Talent host Stephen Mulhern during Tuesday night’s live show.
“Did Strictly really try to get you back?” Stephen asked, to which Alesha insisted that this was not the case.
She commented: “I didn’t even hear that [rumour].”
Alesha is currently in the midst of this year’s BGT live shows, which have been action-packed already, largely thanks to Amanda Holden’s explicit slip of the tongue during one act’s performance.
Alesha also made headlines when she revealed she’s pregnant during Monday night’s opening number.
Speculation over who’ll join the Strictly panel is ongoing with staple judge Craig Revel Horwood admitting earlier this week that even he is being kept in the dark.
“They haven’t told me, but they have told me that it is someone that can actually dance,” he explained. “So that’s good.
“And also, it needs to be someone opinionated… I love Anton [Du Beke], he would be great. Any of the ex-dancers would be fantastic, but I don’t know is the honest truth. They won’t tell me because my gob’s too big.”
