One of the key ingredients that has made ‘This Morning’ such a success over the past 30 years are the moments when things have gone wrong, so it seemed fitting that the mother of all mishaps happened on their 30th birthday episode.
And the person responsible? Step forward, Alison Hammond.
The presenter produced a moment that will end up on blooper shows for years to come, after accidentally pushing a model into the water at Liverpool’s Albert Dock.
Alison was sent back to the ITV daytime show’s original home for a special segment with the famous floating weather map, which was a mainstay of the programme in its early days.
But the wheels fell off when Alison made the leap from Scotland over to Northern Ireland. Or more specifically, one of her scantily-clad assistants fell off.
You see, Alison was accompanied by two shirtless male models on the map, who were charged with helping her jump across the water.
However, she overshot her leap, and as a way of steadying herself, ended up pushing the poor chap into the dock.
Cue Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield exploding into giggles on the live link up from the London studio.
“I’m so sorry!” Alison screamed.
“It is going to be a little bit wet in Northern Ireland, as you can she,” she joked, as she tried to get her forecast back on track. What a pro.
The gaffe came just a day after she left Bradley Cooper speechless (we’re not entirely sure in a good way) with her impromptu singing during an interview.
‘This Morning’ airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
