One man is hoping to raise awareness around the reality of Alzheimer's disease by sharing candid videos of his mum's worsening condition to YouTube.
The video, which some viewers may find upsetting, shows the woman become increasingly distressed and confused as her son, Joe Fraley, tries to comfort her in their own home.
"I'm scared," she mumbled.
The video was filmed 18 months ago, while his mother still lived at home and he moved in to help care for her. Now, she lives in an assisted living facility and can no longer walk or talk.
Fraley, who is a musician, first posted a video of his mother in 2014, when she had a rare moment of clarity after he sang to her on their front porch with his guitar.
At the time, Fraley wrote: "I am a little embarrassed for posting something so personal. I wasn't expecting all the attention it's been getting," he explained at the time. "But the fact that it has touched so many people makes makes it worth while. My Dad and 3 siblings are proud as well. Thank you everyone so much for such kind words. I hope this video promotes awareness of this horrible disease....and encourages people to give their parents a big hug."
