American Music Awards Winners: One Direction, Katy Perry And Iggy Azalea Take Home Gongs (FULL WINNERS LIST)

One Direction led the winners at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, scooping three gongs at the Los Angeles ceremony.

The ‘Steal My Girl’ singers were understandably delighted with their haul, which consisted of the Favourite Pop/Rock Group, Favourite Pop/Rock Album and Artist Of The Year accolades.

Naturally, the lads have already taken to Twitter to thank their fans, with Niall writing: “cannot believe what just happened this evening ! 3 AMA's including artist of the year ! We literally cannot thank you enough! Love you lots.”

Other big winners on the night included Iggy Azalea, who beat Eminem to win the Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album and Favorite Artist Rap/Hip-Hop Album prizes.

“This award is the first award I've ever won in my entire life and it means so much to me that it is for Best Hip-Hop,” she told the star-studded audience. “Because that's what inspired me to move to America and pursue my dreams and it's what helped me when I was a teenager to escape and to get through my life and to better times.”

Katy Perry also won three awards, scooping the prizes for Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist, Single of the Year and Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, while newcomer Sam Smith was named Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist.
