Amy Schumer has delivered yet another honest take on pregnancy – and shut down rumours that she’d already given birth to her first child.
The comedy actor, 37, appeared to mock media outlets by posting a photo of herself walking with her husband, captioning it: “Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer set pulses racing while the heavily pregnant Schumer flaunts her growing bump.”
Schumer continued by writing she is “still pregnant and puking”, and called out the lack of money going into medical studies for women with hyperemesis or endometriosis – “and instead goes to things like dicks not getting hard enough or old guys who want harder dicks.”
“I love you Amy,” one fan commented, with laughing emojis. “You are the best pregnant lady of the land!”
Another wrote: “While I’m sat here in sweatpants wanting to puke myself, this really did make me laugh. Yay to morning sickness (that never stops).”
Others shared their own stories of hyperemesis and agreed more funding should be put in place to help women deal with the condition – experienced by Kate Middleton – during pregnancy.
“I agree, some people didn’t even know what it was when I was pregnant and I found those nine months the hardest of my life,” one person wrote. “It’s so much more than morning sickness. Thinking of you!”
A mum also wrote: “Amen to that! I only had one child because I was too afraid to go through another pregnancy due to hyperemesis. More needs to be done and women should speak up about it more.”
Around seven out of every 10 pregnant women experience some nausea (‘morning sickness’) during pregnancy, but this usually improves or disappears completely by around week 14, according to the NHS. However, some women suffer from hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) and will continue to be sick many times a day, unable to keep food or drink down, for much of their pregnancy.
It’s not known what causes HG, but some experts believe it is linked to changing hormones during pregnancy.
