Being heckled is sadly part of the job for all stand-up comedians.
Sometimes people think they have the right to ruin a show someone has worked really hard on and spoil the night for people who have paid to see it.
It’s also regrettably an even bigger problem for female comedians, with many subjected to misogynistic abuse while they’re on stage.
World famous funny person Amy Schumer found herself in such a situation at a show in Stockholm on Wednesday night. Two minutes in an audience member decided it would be a good idea to shout “show us your tits”.
But, as should be blatantly obvious, no heckler is ever funnier or wittier than the person on stage, who is paid to be funny and witty for a living.
Picking the offender out of the crowd, Schumer enquired as to what the text on his shirt said. He confirmed that it said “I love pussies”.
She also asked what line of work he was in, which he said was Sales.
“Is that going well?” Schumer asked. “’Cos we’re not buying it. If you yell out again, you’re gonna be yelling ‘show your tits’ to people in the parking lot ‘cos you’re gonna get thrown out, motherfucker.”
Not comfortable with being totally shut down by Schumer once, the heckler decided to pipe up again minutes later and was swiftly escorted off the premises.
If you’re ever thinking about heckling a comedian, or demanding to see a woman’s breasts, here’s a handy guide:
- Don’t.
- Seriously, don’t.
- Rethink your life choices.
