Andrew Strauss today celebrates his 100th Test match for England as he aims to guide the team to victory against South Africa at Lord's.
Following a testing week in which Kevin Pietersen has dominated headlines, Strauss has earned some respite even if the task to level the series with the Proteas is a daunting one.
Having made his debut against New Zealand in May 2004, Strauss has been a mainstay in the England Test set-up, serving under three captains - Michael Vaughan, Andrew Flintoff and Pietersen - before he was belatedly made skipper in 2008.
In that time he has led England to two Ashes Test series victories and a 4-0 whitewash of then number one Test side India to send England to the top of the rankings in 2011.
