Cricketers have occasionally smashed windows with their bats, but few have smashed their sunglasses with the ball. Andrew Strauss however has accomplished the latter.
Fielding was arduous for England as they yielded 637 runs and took just two South African wickets over the course of two-and-a-half days in the first Test at the Oval, but comic relief came courtesy of their captain.
As Strauss fielded the ball on the third day, his sunglasses came loose and became an unwitting cross-hair as he took aim at the stumps.
The result? Obliteration. Of his sunglasses, that is. Strauss' team-mates, most notably Graeme Swann, James Anderson and Alistair Cook, saw the funny side along with their skipper.
