Launched from the International Space Station, with a huge installation on Seattle's Space Needle and a National Geographic special edition, Angry Birds Space is determined to have you addicted on an intergalactic scale.
The first completely new game since the original Angry Birds, the new iteration is, as you may have guessed by the name, set in outer space with all the pleasures of zero gravity that the lack of atmosphere brings.
The game is big business, and a very big deal, to Rovio. The Finnish games company is not launching this by halves. Prior to launch, we received an invite to meet Rovio at the Finnish embassy, and a huge box with a plush Angry Bird and other Angry paraphenalia.
If you're an Angry Birds fan, and you've downloaded the new game, I doubt you're still reading. The new game is just as addictive as the last.
For 69p on iPhone and £1.99 on iPad, €5.95 for PC, free on Google Play and £2.99 for mac, it's a cheap hit that keeps on giving with 60 levels to unlock.
As per the existing games, pigs are stacked about wooden structures that somehow find themselves in space. Your duty once more is to fling birds at these jerry-built shacks to bring them down.
New birds add to the drama of the visually appealing pig slaughter. There's a blue Ice Bomb Bird which, you guessed it, throws ice bombs. A rotund green Monster Bird is your heavy artillery, while the Super Red Bird is highly explosive.
If you liked the power of the Mighty Bird, you'll like Space Eagles. They can be released at will, destroying all that is around them. The only downside is that they cost you money. Expect to be topping up pocket money regularly if your kids are playing this.
There's a lot of fun to be had honing your bird flinging skills, using the gravity of nearby planets for some extra kick. Smashing through the 60 levels is relatively easy for experienced players, but still satisfying, especially on a long commute on south east England's trains.
If you're not a gamer, and you wonder what the Angry Birds "thing" is all about, I suggest you spend the 69p. Even an Angry Bird novice will have a hard time not obsessing over this. Think twice if you wanted to ever get anything else done though.
Existing Angry Birds players, well, you're not truly a Mighty Eagle if you don't just go ahead and get involved in this new spacey experience.
