As one half of Britain's most popular telly duos, Ant McPartlin has been bringing joy to families for years.
But the Ant 'n Dec star has revealed that he longs for a family of his own - but that he and his wife, Lisa Armstrong, are struggling to have children.
In a moving interview with Radio Times, the 37-year-old 'I'm a Celebrity..' and 'Britain's Got Talent' presenter said there was no truth to the suggestion that he and Lisa were waiting for his co-presenter Declan Donnelly to settle down before they started a family.
He said: "There's a rumour that we do everything together and I'm holding off having kids till Dec finds himself Mrs Right. I love that idea, but I'm afraid it's not true. Lisa and I would love to have kids. We're trying. It's tougher than you think when you get a bit older."
Work commitments have previously got in the way of children. But in July 2010, Ant told how he and Lisa, 36, were trying then.
"We've wanted children for a while but we're both busy," Ant revealed.
"We're on a break now, the first proper one for 15 years. So Lisa and I are trying for a baby... well, we've been trying for a little while so fingers crossed."
Before that, in February 2009, Ant and Lisa had to deny rumours she was pregnant.
Ant said then: "We'll have been married three years this summer - of course we want children. We definitely want to start a family soon - it will naturally happen."
Ant and Lisa tied the knot in front of around 150 friends and family in 2006, with Dec his best man. The couple met when they were performing at a pop concert at Newcastle City Hall in 1994.
Lisa, who now works as a make-up artist on high-profile shows including Strictly Come Dancing, was in 90s pop band Deuce, while Ant was part of a singing duo with Dec after finding fame in TV show Byker Grove.
Ant and Dec, who live on the same London street, agreed to be interviewed separately by the magazine about their relationship.
Dec, 37, shed tears as he talked about the pair's 'bromance', saying: "I'm getting a bit emotional talking about it. I am more emotional than Ant. I appreciate our relationship even more since I lost my dad."
