If home is where the heart is then Britons have a lot of love to give, with a new study revealing that the average adult has lived in five homes by the time they are 35-years-old.

A survey by the Royal Mail of A survey of 1,000 under 35-year-olds found that by the time they reach their mid-thirties, the average adult has lived in more homes than their parents.

More than a third (38 per cent) have lived in six or more properties while one in ten (13 per cent) have lived at more than ten different addresses.

Four in ten of those surveyed said they had moved house so often because they were unable to afford to buy a home so had to rent.

Although one in ten said they got itchy feet because they did not want to settle down until later on in life.

Royal Mail published the report on Friday as part of a campaign to encourage people to redirect their post when moving house, in order to protect themselves against identity fraud.
