Chancellor George Osborne today announced plans to reduce British life expectancy to 70 by 2050.
"Lowering life expectancy in Britain from 80 to 70 shows that this Government is determined to keep making tough decisions. Including killing people off," he told the House of Commons in his Autumn Statement.
"It is simply common sense that hard working poor people work until they're 70 so that some of them die off earlier," he added.
Nick Clegg defended the move, saying: "What we are seeking to do is to keep the principle that around a third of your adult life is a complete waste. You might as well work until you drop dead."
