When you're shopping for the start of the new school year, a lot of your time will be spent fitting school shoes and picking up uniforms. But it's worth hitting the high street with your children to pick up little extras like pencil cases, pen sets oreven a new watch or character print umbrella (will make walking to school in the rain a lot more appealing!).
All these bits and bobs can help little ones get excited about heading back to school, and keep nerves at bay if you have a young child who is starting school for the very first time.
School accessory shopping list:
A pencil case
Material styles won't clunk around as much as tins in school bags, and hold a surprising amount of stuff which your child with inevitably pick up throughout term. Check out the Supermarkets and M&S for lots of choice at cheap prices.
Stationery sets
Shopping for these can be fun with little people if you head somewhere with lots of choice and character styles. Try Poundland if you're on a budget, or online retailer Traid Craft for lovely wooden pencils and accessories.
Labels
Label EVERYTHING, and then check each item again to make sure you haven't missed anything before term starts, as you'll never see it again. Iron-on styles are the easiest as you don't have to faff around with a needle and thread, or a biro can just be just as good.
A watch
For older children this is a great buy as it seems like a real a present, but we all know telling the time is an essential life skill to have, which is obviously incredibly useful for school days, so everyone wins.
