The world's biggest video game studios have been put to shame in this year's BAFTA Game Awards nominations by an indie developer.
Journey, a 3D puzzle adventure game ecstatically received by critics for its beautiful visuals and emotional story, received eight nominations.
Jenova Chen's game was nominated for Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Game Innovation, Online-Multiplayer, Best Game, Game Design, Story and Original Music.
In another blow to the big-budget 'AAA' developers, TellTale's cut-price adventure game The Walking Dead received the next highest number on nominations with seven.
Island action game Far Cry 3 was the most successful big game, with six nominations including for best action game, best story and game design.
But it was another indie title - Dear Esther - which came next with five nods, including for Best British Game.
Halo 4, Borderlands 2, Assassin’s Creed 3 and The Room received four nominations.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2, Dishonored, Forza Horizon, Mass Effect 3, The Unfinished Swan and Thomas Was Alone received three each.
