IN A NUTSHELL: A clean, simple colour palette of cream and khaki on tailored trousers, coats and silk shirts made way for a more exuberant part of Barbara Bui's Autumn/Winter collection. Metallics followed, with lame jackets and a gold jumpsuit to please the designer's American fan base. One thing led to another with Oriental inspired dragon imagery embroidered onto the final pieces in the show.

BEG, BORROW OR STEAL: The tailored, quilted satin suit was A/W chic at its best, but aside from the more practical chunky knitwear and sheepskin coats, what we really wanted was the silk maxi dress in all-gold, for the way it made a statement, without being showy.

VERDICT: Bui is famed for her outwear and this season's styles - from a small splash of leopard print fur to blazers - didn't disappoint. However, it was Bui's tailoring that impressed us in this collection. Silk shirts with pussy-bows worn with super sharp stilettos and military-style suits - it was elegant, practical and most definitely wearable. Paris is signing up for their A/W coats as we speak.
