Baxter The Humanoid Robot 'To Make Manufacturing Safer' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Meet Baxter The Sad Humanoid Factory Robot
|

Meet Baxter - the new humanoid factory robot said to be about to 'revolutionise' manufacturing.

The cute little android will go on sale in October, and its makers say it could take factory work into the next century.

The £13,500 robot is made by Rethink Robotics, who say it will be able to complete a wide variety of tasks after just 30 minutes training.

Normally factory robots work in separate areas than human employees, and often have to work inside cages or protective barries.

But Baxter is better able to adapt to his environment, and could work alongside his organic colleagues.

Rethink say the robot knows when it has dropped objects, can learn new jobs and uses facial expressions to indicate happiness or confusion.

Oddly enough in every picture we've seen, Baxter looks so depressed he might short-circuit himself to end the drudgery. But we're sure that's just a bug...

Take a look in the video above.
