A BBC reporter looked like he was having the time of his life when a Brazilian hen party stormed his Olympic coverage live on-air and well and truly stole the show.
Presenter Dan Walker was performing an ordinary link section on BBC Four late on Saturday night when, on camera, at least a dozen women stumbled past tied together and singing.
Walker realised they were a hen party and quickly noticed the bride. He pointed her out to the camera-crew, before inviting her over and interviewing her live on television.
“This could be interesting.” he joked.
The Bridge, Maria, proudly revealed she was getting married on 17 September, while her cohort of revellers chanted “Maria, Maria, Maria”.
Seemingly unaware of what she had stumbled into, Walker revealed to Maria that they were “live on the television”. “We’re BBC,” he said.
”I watch BBC,” the bride-to-be said proudly, before leading her hen party in a chant of the national broadcaster.
“This is lovely,” Walker said in disbelief.
It seems the commentary can sometimes be as full of surprises as the competition in Rio.
