With Far Cry 4, The Order: 1886 and Smash Bros. Wii U showing us that creativity was at an all-time high the next step is scale.
Where previously games have had to be made for both next-gen and current gen consoles, the new wave are launching exclusively on Xbox One and PS4.
Leading the charge is Batman: Arkham Knight. Boasting visuals that'll make your Xbox 360 weep, Arkham Knight is a polygon paradise of pixels.
According to Arkham Knight's studios Rocksteady, this game is five times the size of the last one while just one character in Arkham Knight has more polygons in it than the whole of Arkham Asylum.
That's just the start though, Ubisoft's The Division will push gaming even further with a living, breathing world that'll change and adapt as you interact with it.
Then of course there's Star Wars: Battlefront, the return of an icon. Boasting huge cinematic maps and props and costumes direct from George Lucas' own shed, it's set to be one of the best-looking games ever.
These are the numbers that will define 2015, while truly next-generation technologies like Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine that can create stunningly real worlds that persist even after you've left the game.
