Beyoncé Begins 'Formation' Tour With Prince Tribute And Special Message To Husband, Jay Z

'I want to dedicate this song to my beautiful husband...'

Beyoncé, the woman of the hour, kicked off her ‘Formation’ world tour on Wednesday night (28 April) performing all of her biggest hits, as well as cuts from her most recent album, ‘Lemonade’.

The set ended with a performance of the love song, ‘Halo’, which she used as an opportunity to address rumours about her relationship with Jay Z.

Shortly before beginning the rendition, she told the crowds at Miami’s Marlins Park: “I want to dedicate this song to my beautiful husband.

“I love you so much.”

This comes less than a week after the release of ‘Lemonade’, which contains repeated references to infidelity, prompting speculation that Jay Z may have been unfaithful to her in the past.

In particular, the song ‘Sorry’ contains a line about calling “Becky with the good hair”, with Rita Ora and Rachel Roy both speaking out to insist that the lyric does not refer to either of them.

During the show, she invited two fans on stage to perform 'Single Ladies' with her - and as you can see below, they were already more than familiar with the choregraphy:

Beyoncé’s first show of her latest tour also featured a special tribute to Prince, who died last week at the age of 57.

After a performance of ‘Single Ladies’, the stadium went completely dark, safe for a purple box in the middle of the stage, accompanied by the sound of Prince’s signature hit, ‘Purple Rain’.

Bey said later in the show: “Thank you Prince for your beautiful music.”

Prince and Beyoncé previously performed together at the Grammys in 2004, where they mashed up a string of his hits with her then-new single, ‘Crazy In Love’.

The ‘Formation’ world tour will arrive in the UK in June, with dates scheduled in Sunderland, Cardiff, London, Manchester and Glasgow.
