‘Big Brother’ fans have been left unimpressed over the show’s decision not to air the moment that led to contestant Lewis Flanagan being ejected from the house.
Over the weekend, it was revealed that Lewis had become the second of this year’s housemates to leave via the back door, with Big Brother telling him in the Diary Room this was due to his unacceptable language.
However, while many fans thought his comments would be aired in Sunday night’s highlights show, so they could find exactly what was so unacceptable, the moment was glossed over, with producers instead choosing to show Lewis receiving the news he was being removed, and the aftermath in the house.
Although he didn’t clarify exactly what was said, Lewis put the moment down to a “slip of the tongue”, telling bosses: “I’m not ashamed because I didn’t try to offend anyone - it was a slip of the tongue.
“Unfortunately for me my bad language and misuse of certain phrases and certain words has exploded in my face.”
Fans of the show were left disappointed with the producers’ decision, and vented their annoyance on Twitter…
Various media outlets have claimed that during a conversation with fellow housemate Cameron Cole, Lewis mistakenly said “Auschwitz” when he’d meant to say “outfits”, though this remains unconfirmed.
Channel 5 declined to comment when approached by HuffPost UK.
During the summer, ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ fans had a similar grievance, when an incident that led to “Human Ken doll” Rodrigo Alves’ removal from the house also went unaired.
Fans were particularly annoyed due to the fact that earlier in the run, he’d received a formal warning for his use of racial slurs, which were shown in the first highlights episode of the series.
‘Big Brother’, now in its final series, airs nightly on Channel 5.
