Some games can be as cinematic as movies - but once they're turned into films, they are rarely as good as you'd hope.
Despite that, it seems like a movie version of Bioshock - Irrational Games' legendary underwater RPG - is still in production. At least, as far as we could tell.
And now we have a trailer.
True, the trailer is totally and unashamedly fake, made by a passionate fan and released on YouTube. But it's also a pretty amazing piece of work - haunting and realistic, and evocative of the game's darkly comic, art deco atmosphere.
"I've made a few Bioshock trailers, but some recent movie trailers provided way great a opportunity to make what I hope it captures the spirit of the game better then my previous efforts," said the trailer's director.
The clips come from the following movies: Castaway, Poseidon, fake trailer for Star Trek 2, Cloud Atlas (the flooding corridor and piano scenes), Total Recall (Remake), Jacob's Ladder, Event Horizon, Hard Rain, Below, Tai Chi 01, fanfilm for Bioshock 2, Eden Log, The Island, Life of Pi, G.I Joe: Rise of Cobra, Shutter Island, and Widowmaker.
We suggest you watch it - it will probably be better than whatever remnants of Bioshock eventually get spit out by the Hollywood movie machine, if any.
