Well the lovely dentist at the NHS glued my tooth back on for 30 pounds. She was very nice (they were all very nice, from the receptionist to the nurses) but she did make this comment:
Nice lady dentist: "This is a beautiful bit of porcelain that came off, you don't see much nice lab work like this when you work for the NHS."
So there you have it. Socialized medicine, (everyone is taken care of) but no fancy porcelain caps apparently.
We're going to see a production of 'Spring Awakening' tonight. It's a talented young cast from Fargo, and my friend Barbara Bergum has a niece in the cast! We met up with Barbara tonight and we'll be seeing her at the show in a few minutes. We just had time to pop into the 'Milnes of Rose Street' pub for a quick pint. Or should I say 'anesthetic'. My novocaine is wearing off and I have no aspirin on me. Yes mom, I'm 'self medicating'. Just this once.
Interesting Cilff Claven type factoid. The pub is called Milnes..... and Milne is Ethel Gumm's maiden name. Of course Ethel Gumm is Judy Garland's mother (for those of you who might not know that Judy Garland was born Frances Gumm.)
It's possible a reviewer may come see 'The Property Known As Garland' tomorrow. Fingers crossed, knock on wood.
Oh, the show went really well today. We had about 12 people, and afterwards a really nice guy (a few years younger than my dad) asked me for my autograph. And that's the kind of thing that makes you realize that even though we're not selling out, even though we haven't been reviewed, even though at times it's been tough...... people are enjoying this show that we've brought 1/4 of the way across the world. I'm glad for this adventure.
