A man’s body has been found in Hyde Park, police have confirmed, adding that they are treating the death as “suspicious”.
About 30 officers descended upon Hyde Park, near Speakers’ Corner, early Friday morning after a man was found with injuries.
Police were called shortly before 6am following concerns for a man’s welfare.
Speakers’ Corner is an area in Hyde Park where members of the public can give speeches, debate, and discuss topics openly.
It is located near Marble Arch.
The area has been cordoned off and a white tent has been erected around the body.
Forensic officers are at the scene.
Witnesses described seeing a body lying face down between two trees near a public toilet.
Officers said the deceased man’s next of kin have not yet been informed.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Police in Westminster were called to Hyde Park, W2, at approximately 05:50hrs on Friday, 12 August, after a member of the public found a man with injuries.
“Officers attended and found a man deceased.
“This incident is being treated as suspicious.
“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
“Next of kin have not been informed. Cordons are currently in place.”
