An 11-year-old primary school boy told a classmate he was going to 'do a Suarez' before biting him on the arm in imitation of the Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
The child was suspended from Golftyn Primary in north Wales for the attack on Ryan Ellis, also 11.
Ryan's mum, Sharon Ellis, says the other child's actions were a 'direct result' of what he had seen Liverpool footballer Luis Suarez do when he bit Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic during a Premier League match on Sunday.
Miss Ellis, 45, told the Daily Mail that the footballer's vile behaviour had led to her child being bitten.
"The boys were at the school's breakfast club and there had been some altercation because someone had stood on someone's foot," she told the paper.
"The other boy turned round to my son and said, 'I'm going to do a Luis Suarez, I'm going to bite you.' And then he went ahead and bit his upper right arm. He then went around bragging to the other children that he had 'done a Suarez'."
The furious mum said her son – himself a Liverpool fan – was left with a bruised upper arm as the other child's teeth sank through two layers of his school uniform.
"These aren't nursery school children, you don't expect 11-year-olds to go around biting each other. They looked at what Luis Suarez did, he did not even get sent off," Miss Ellis from Connah's Quay, North Wales, said.
She said it was purely 'copycat' behaviour from a child emulating his idol and said that Suarez should have known better than to have done it.
"Suarez should not have done what he did, he's an adult at the end of the day,"Miss Ellis said.
Nicola Cooper, the headteacher at Golftyn Primary, declined to comment on the incident.
Suarez meanwhile, has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association, and the Professional Footballers' Association have offered him anger management counselling.
