Parents the world over have been left red-faced with embarrassment when their young children say exactly what's on their little minds in public.

And, fortunately, most people see the funny side – even if they're the butt of a child's cutting observation. It's why the phrase 'Out of the mouths of babes' was invented.

But a customer in a doughnut shop in Connecticut, U.S., wasn't in a laughing mood when a four-year-old boy asked if she was pregnant – so the shop owner banned the little lad!

Mum Rebecca Denham said when her son, Justin Otero, mistakenly asked a customer in Monroe's Doughnut Inn if she was carrying a child - she was mortified.
