A five-year-old boy has been hailed a hero after he put his mum in to the recovery position and gave her glucose after she fell into a diabetic coma.

Kayleigh Dickinson, 32, lost consciousness while at home in Sheerness, Kent, after her blood sugar levels dropped.

Her little boy, Morgan, raced to her aid, putting her in the correct position, feeding her some glucose syrup, and calling 999, his dad and then his grandparents for help.

As soon as his gran, 53-year-old Heidi Dickinson, heard the little boy say that mummy was on the floor and he could not wake her, she raced to their home.

But by the time she arrived, the police and paramedics were already dealing with the situation, thanks to Morgan's other phone calls.

Heidi said her little grandson was 'amazing'.

"He deserves the biggest gold medal you could possibly find, but if you put it around his neck he would probably fall over because he is so small," she said. "He saved our daughter's life and you can't thank someone enough for that, but we are so proud of our grandson."

She added that Morgan had 'never been trained' to deal with Kayleigh's diabetes, but that he just knows what to do when his mum becomes unwell - including once phoning his grandparents when he was just TWO when Kayleigh had a bad reaction to her meds.

His proud mum told her local paper that the TV show Casualty could have raised some medical awareness in Morgan:

"On Sundays me and Morgan usually watch the week's worth of Casualty, so it is quite possible he has picked up some things from watching TV shows," she said.

"I could not thank him enough for what he has done, it could have been a whole lot worse. He's saved my life and I will forever be in his debt for that."

Clutching a 'gold trophy' certificate he was awarded for quick thinking, Morgan told the paper: "I was not frightened, I just knew I needed to get someone to help mummy, so I called daddy, nanny and granddad and a few other people. I'm glad mummy is better now."

Bless him!
