Boys are to get lessons at school on chatting up girls, shaving and other manly life skills.

Male teachers will teach boys how to treat girls with respect to combat the warped view they received from easily-available pornography.

They'll get tips on how to go about asking out a girl and how to behave properly if she says yes.

The lessons will start next month at Chase High School in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex.

Head teacher Victoria Overy said: "Young men have a skewed view of what a relationship is like because of the easy access to pornography.

"It's about improving self-esteem and helping them to grow up to be decent men.

"Just going to lessons will make no difference unless you look at the whole person rather just them as a student.

"It's a way of supporting them differently and often involves pupils on free school meals who may not have a male role model in their life.

"The boys' input has been vital and ideas range from subjects they want to talk about to activities they want to do."

The scheme will also include golf lessons, football tournaments, camping and survival skills to encourage team-building skills.

Girls are set to receive similar lessons from female teachers focusing on finance management and career aspirations.

Mrs Overy added: "I have a school full of really committed, passionate young men who the lads already look up to and it's a gift. Now we are more overtly doing something more about that."
