A teenage boy has been injured after a part of a fairground ride came loose and struck him on the leg at Brighton Pier.
Police and the fire brigade were called to the scene around 3pm on Monday afternoon.
A decorative section of the “Air Race” attraction is believed to have detached from the ride.
A Sussex police spokesperson said in a statement: “Four people were reported to have sustained injuries, but they are not thought to be serious at this time.
“The matter has been referred to the Health and Safety Executive.”
A tweet from Sussex ambulance service clarified that only one boy had been physically injured and others were shaken by the experience.
A witness told The Argus: “A boy who looked in his mid-teens was being taken off the pier on a stretcher.
“He was wincing and the ambulance crews with him gave him a pump to take breaths from.”
