A brilliantly pretentious pregnancy announcement in the style of a Wes Anderson film trailer has gone viral.
When Jacky Shu and Ben Snyder discovered they were expecting their first child they knew an ordinary Facebook status update or an emailed photo of Ben cradling Jacky's as yet indiscernible bump simply wouldn't do.
Ben and Jacky are the ultimate hipster couple - Ben is a film editor with musical talents 'which... never really amounted to anything', Jacky 'dabbles in a few fine arts' and they live in California with their dog Sir William.
So for their pregnancy announcement they decided to channel the 'quirky' aesthetic of film director Wes Anderson; and the parody is spot-on with deadpan acting, montages of seemingly ordinary objects and fourth-walling breaking.
With the tag line: 'A new family, nine months in the making', The pretentious presentation of the uterine inhabitant will be arriving in Spring 2015.
The trailer opens on a shot of Ben, Jacky and Sir William standing outside a garage looking directly at the camera as a voice over narrates the tale:
"They were ordinary, they weren't famous but they did have one grand idea..."
Ben and Jacky really have managed to achieve the spirit of an Anderson film. All that's missing is Bill Murray!
Which film director's style would you most like to mimic in a pregnancy announcement? How about: David Lynch? Tim Burton? Martin Scorsese? Or Alfred Hitchcock?
