PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Britain is basking in the warmest temperatures of this week's mini-heatwave, weather forecasters said.
The Indian Summer continued as most parts of England and Wales hit 20C (68F) once again.
High pressure drifting over from Europe has brought warm southerly winds and sunshine across most parts of the UK.
Aisling Creevey, a forecaster at MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said: "It's the warmest day of the week so far.
"Today we could see those temperatures going up another couple of degrees but it would have to be in the next couple of hours while the sun is still out."
Ms Creevey said the rest of the week would see "pretty much wall-to-wall sunshine" in England and Wales.
But she warned that Northern Ireland and parts of western Scotland could see heavy rain on Friday and at the weekend.
The forecaster predicted the warm weather would last into next week.
"Temperatures will start to drop off a little bit, but they will still be slightly above average," she said.
London and the South East were expected to remain in the 20s until Tuesday, with northern areas staying slightly above the 14C (57.2F) October average.
