Uplifting doesn’t even cover it.

Cast your mind back to Christmas and you might remember how the nation became obsessed with Sainsbury’s festive advert that featured an adorable school choir.

Well, it seems we now have a new favourite one, following the return of Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday night.

The vocal group from Flakefleet Primary School in Lancashire became the first Golden Buzzer act of the series, after their uplifting audition prompted an emotional response from all the judges.

David Walliams chose to send the act straight through to the live shows, having been reduced to tears by their rendition of Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now.

It featured them dancing around the stage with comedy props while dressed in a variety of costumes, while also performing some comical tricks.

“It’s just one of the most joyous things I’ve ever seen,” David remarked. “You’ve just made all our hearts soar today. It’s what you want your childhood to have been like, and what you want your children’s childhood to be like, which is just full of unbridled joy.”

Ant McPartlin was also seen wiping his eyes after David hit his Golden Buzzer, before one of the choir told him she had “missed him” during his absence from the show last year, following his conviction for drink-driving.

Saturday’s show also saw the most dangerous act the judges had ever seen take to the stage with a knife-balancing routine, while they were also entertained by a drag version of the Queen.

Britain’s Got Talent continues next Saturday on ITV.
