Natalie Holt, a BAFTA-nominated composer with a Masters degree from the National Film and Television School, shocked viewers with her impromptu eggy rant, but yesterday explains her actions.
She told the Daily Mail, "I took a stand against people miming on television and against Simon Cowell and against his influence on the music industry."

And the Sun reports her saying after she came off stage that the eggs were organic ones from Marks and Spencer.
Holt had been performing as part of the backing group for contestants Richard and Adam. She reportedly felt strongly about "live music being live" and didn't think it was right that she was asked to mime playing her violin.
The musician was also reported to be miffed at her treatment when she and her group Raven entered the contest last year. One of the group posted an internet blog at the time, describing the experience as "hellish", but this blog was later removed.
Holt made an official apology after the show, saying that "in (sic) hindsight, it was a silly thing to do".
A BGT spokesman said miming was "standard industry practice for backing musicians during TV performances as it isn’t possible to easily capture the quality of the sound in a live broadcast environment. All contestants on 'Britain’s Got Talent' sing live".
