‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winner Richard Jones has courted controversy once again, after it was suggested he copied yet another of his tricks.
Having already been accused of lifting tricks performed by the late Paul Daniels and ‘America’s Got Talent’ star Collins Key, it has now been claimed that the trick performed by Richard in this year’s live final may not have been his own.
In Saturday night’s (28 May) final, Richard became the first magician in 10 series of ‘BGT’ to win the show, after performing a card trick which told a story referencing his own military background.
However, a source tells The Sun: “Richard might have put his own military spin on the trick but once again the it was a blatant rip off from 'America’s Got Talent'.”
Specifically, the trick was performed by ‘AGT’ illusionist Mat Franco, who won the US version of the show two years ago.
The insider continues: “It is the third time he has copied a trick from a contestant on the show. That can hardly be a coincidence.
Richard recently spoke out to defend himself against accusations of plagiarism, insisting last week: “New ideas won’t always be found nowadays so I’m thinking what I can do that’s similar but make it more understanding and more updated.”
