Kelly Osbourne Announced As The Host Of 2019 British LGBT Awards

She follows in the footsteps of Mel B and Alan Carr in presenting the annual awards.

Kelly Osbourne has been announced as the host of this year’s British LGBT Awards.

The TV presenter and singer, who has always been a high-profile supporter of the LGBT+ community, will preside over the annual event, which will be held at the Grosvenor Square Marriott Hotel in London on Friday 17 May.

The awards recognise celebrities, activists and allies who have worked to advance the fight for LGBT+ rights during the past 12 months.

Nominees include Sex And The City actress-turned-political campaigner Cynthia Nixon and The X Files legend Gillian Anderson, who have both been shortlisted in the LGBT+ celebrity category.

Little Mix, Ellie Goulding and Naomi Campbell are going head-to-head for the prestigious Ally of the Year Award, whilst TV personalities including Stephen Fry, Rylan Clark-Neal and Paul O’Grady are also nominated for major gongs.

Speaking ahead of next month’s event, Kelly said: “I am so excited to be coming home to Britain to host the 2019 British LGBT Awards. It is such an important event which shines a light on LGBT+ role models and those who are doing so much to advance the rights of LGBT+ people not only in Britain, but all over the world.”

British LGBT Awards founder, Sarah Garrett MBE, added: “Kelly is recognised as an international champion of the LGBT+ community, supporting charities like the Trevor Project, the Los Angeles LGBT Center and various initiatives for LGBT+ Youth.

“She’s the perfect choice to host this years’ ceremony, which is shaping up to be the biggest British LGBT Awards yet. We’re looking forward recognising the diverse range of public figures and campaigners who use their platform to enhance the rights of the LGBT community.”
