British LGBT Awards 2019: Rylan, RuPaul And Gillian Anderson Shortlisted For Gongs

Rylan Clark-Neal, RuPaul and Gillian Anderson are all among the nominees for this year’s British LGBT Awards, it has been announced. 

The shortlist for the annual awards ceremony, which celebrates the achievements of the LGBT+ community, was revealed on Monday night, and includes figures from across the entertainment industry.

Rylan and Gillian will battle it out against the likes of John Barrowman, Gok Wan, Ruby Rose and Cara Delevingne in the LGBT+ Celebrity Of The Year category at the ceremony on 17 May. 

Meanwhile, Ru, who is bringing Drag Race to the UK later this year, goes up against Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness and Paul O’Grady, Stephen Fry and 1Xtra DJ A.Dot in the Broadcaster Or Journalist Of The Year category. 

Straight allies will also be honoured on the night, with nominees including Little Mix, Susanna Reid, Dua Lipa and Michael B Jordan.

Among the notable events up for the Media Moment award include Drag Race finalist Courtney Act winning Celebrity Big Brother and Coronation Street’s Kate and Rana storyline. 

There will also be prizes handed out to LGBT+ people from other walks of life, while Google, Vodafone, Boohoo and LinkedIn among some of the major organisations vying for recognition for their inclusion work in the corporate categories.
