A young seaman has been found dead in Hong Kong, the Foreign Office has confirmed.
Andrew Macleod, from Newmarket near Stornoway, was found dead on Friday.
The 21-year-old was an engineering cadet working on the UK-flagged MV Ever Sigma, according to reports.
The Press and Journal newspaper said he was discovered dead in his cabin onboard the ship at 9am.
The newspaper said he was found sitting in a chair, wearing headphones and with a laptop turned on in front of him.
It is unclear what caused his death.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are aware of the death of a British national, Mr Macleod, in Hong Kong on October 21.
"We stand ready to provide consular assistance."
The 984-foot ship sails between China and Europe and is currently in the Pacific.
The shipping company, Evergreen, was not immediately available for comment.
